Years ago I had a neighbor who had the most abundant garden. I was amazed at how she could grow such beautiful and delicious vegetables. I asked her what her trick was to make her soil so soft and easy to manage. I expected her to tell me about some fancy process or expensive fertilizer. She always had a hole dug in her garden, and she never threw out vegetable scraps. If she peeled potatoes or had any type of vegetable leftovers, she just threw them in the hole and tossed some soil on top.
When the hole was filled, she dug another hole. She had done this for years. She warned me not to put vegetables in the ground that were mixed with meat, other animal products, or additives. Just simple leftover pieces of fruits and vegetables is what she put back into the ground.
I have not had a real garden for years, but this year I am going to try again. I have already started by filling holes with leftover fruits and vegetable scraps. If any of you out there have had some successful experiences with gardening, please share with us.
